Grading – update

I would like to congratulate all those that braved the bad weather and attended the grading today, although Sensei could not attend due to the bad weather conditions at the top of Portsdown Hill and the fear of being stranded on the IOW if the weather turned, I decided to continue rather than cancel as it was an exceptional situation.  As a Senior Instructor I have authority from Sensei Dewey to conduct club gradings, I do not like to do the gradings as l prefer the impartialness that Sensei brings to the club with the training and grading.

I would also like to thank Sensei Malcolm and Ben for their assistance with the teaching while i dealt with the administration between the two classes, and Malcolm for his continued support during the grading.

Happy 60th Birthday Malcolm

Happy Birthday

To celebrate Sensei Malcolm’s 60th Birthday, and that he has been training with me for 20 years now starting in 1990 l took Malcolm along with me to train with Sensei Dave Hazard 7th dan at an open course organised by Rod Butler SKE at Waltham Abbey.

Saturday Training – Gojushiho Dai and Heian Kata

Sunday freestyle and self defence kumite

During the kumite session Sensei Dave said that competition kumite was for the youngsters in the class and looked at the seniors and commented that we were now of a mature age and no longer competing which generally was true, however i must point out an exception to the rule that even at 60 Malcolm still competes at every SEKU competition in team and individual events and organises the clubs squad. Well done Malc and happy birthday
